Waterfall Elopement in North Georgia

Updated: Feb 22, 2021

Jessica and Josh had their dream wedding planned for November 2020 with family and friends, but when Covid-19 stormed the world their plans changed. If 2020 has taught us anything, it's that love isn't cancelled. These two grabbed their wedding attire and headed to Lake Rabun Hotel in North Georgia to say their vows under the cascading waterfalls of Lake Rabun at the one and only Minnehaha Falls!

The evening before their wedding the groom, Josh, had scattered pumpkins around the cabin for his new bride-to-be to find in the morning decorating their cozy home in the woods. Each pumpkin had a handwritten tag with a reason that Josh loved Jessica so much. To see all of the pumpkins, jump over the story here.

They chose to get ready in separate rooms in their private cabin, and met on the back porch for a dreamy first look. Soft rain was coming down on the roof when Jessica walked up to Josh for the first time in her wedding dress. Around the cabin Fall leaves and moss were dusted with raindrops, and the late morning mist and fog froze the forest into a perfect moment in time that was straight out of a fairytale.

After having a quiet moment together at the cabin and exchanging gifts, the couple traveled to the nearby Minnehaha Falls and said their vows. There were no shortage of tears as they read endearing vows to each other in the enchanting forest of Lake Rabun. The crisp Autumn breeze could be felt and seen as the bride's dress gently moved with the forest, and birds were happily chirping and shaking off the water droplets of the recent rain. The Falls were absolutely breathe taking and rushing and overflowing with more life giving water than they had all season long.

Later back at the cabin Jessica made some charcuterie boards for her new husband to snack on and changed into a soft romantic evening dress for their private dinner candlelight dinner that was brought to them in their cabin. They cut their two person cake traditionally, and danced in their living room to their favorite songs as the sun set on their perfect and private wedding day!

Jessica wore her wedding shoes that she intended to walk down the isle in for her "first look" with Josh on the front porch of the cabin, and then she traded them in for hiking boots that were safe to navigate the slippery rocks and rain of the waterfall that we hiked to!
