Married in a Hurricane!

On Sept 28th, 2022 Hurricane Ian was making landfall in Florida and meanwhile Bethany and Tristan were making plans for their wedding day! The original venue they had booked cancelled due to emergency policies, but the Dr. Phillips House in downtown Orlando happily offered to help out with the venue for the day. Not only did this bride plan a completely new wedding in under 24 hours, but she also made her own wedding dress completely by hand and she was the calmest and happiest bride I've ever met! They were just happy to still be able to get married on this day!

Rain From Our Wedding Day

On the morning of the wedding it was a little windy with 20 mph winds, but nothing that us Floridians could not drive in! The heavy wind and rain did not start until later that evening so we had the day with just drizzling rainy weather, which is very typical for a summer Florida wedding!

During the first look, the bride and groom had some intimate time together and shared a champagne fountain toast! The ceremony was in the foyer of the house, and there was a warm cozy feeling with everyone close together. When the bride came down the stairs and the groom had tears in his eyes, not a single person could help from tearing up in the room. The best part of the whole day in my opinion was after the ceremony the couple had a romantic first dance on the back porch of the house with all of the doors opened for the guests to watch and the beautiful light rain cascading behind them. They played a song from twilight, and that truly made me happy to be a part of this day. It was truly a romantic scene straight out of a movie! All of the details that made day special were truly evident by the hand calligraphy signs and notes and soft romantic flowers that were in every corner.

I actually had some relaxing moments where I completely forgot that there was a storm coming and that did wonders for my constantly checking the weather on my phone anxiety lol! I'm so happy that this couple was able to getting married that day, and so happy to be a part of it! I would 100% do this again and looking back at the wedding years from now, I honestly don't think the hurricane will even come to mind in memories. It will be the honest and intimate moments that I saw true love between a couple and the warmth and laughter of an small intimate wedding day! The vendor team did an AMAZING job of re-organizing the wedding in under 24 hours, and you should definitely check them out!
